EXPIRY DATE OF AYURVEDIC MEDICINE

From April 1st 2010 it is mandatory for all the ayurvedic manufactures to write expiry date also on the label. 
as popularity and acceptability of ayurvedic medicines are growing certain measures have to be taken for the safety of patients. government of india made it mandatory by amending the drug and cosmetics act by gazzette notification(GSR-764E) dated 15th oct 2009
the new guidelines showing expiry date and self life as follows.
1.Expiry of one year-All eye drops and arka.
2.Expiry of two years- churna and kwath churna, ghrit,toothpoderand tooth paste, varti, swet parpati, nasal and ear drops, doophan-inhaler.
Expiry of three years-gutika containing kashrha aushdhi, avleha, taila, lep churna, lep gutika, lep malhar, ghanvati, capsule made of gelatine containing kashtha aushadhi, syrup, khand,granules and paka......
