I hold the highest decree of respect and gratitude to Dr.M.R.Krishnaswamy, who kindled the interest in my inner soul, regarding the practical aspect of M/C. He had been involved in a project of preparing the basic outline of writing an introspective book on the details of Marma Chikitsa. Observing my akin towards the marma chikitsa, he involved me in that project of making of the book. Having been exposed to the dissection of the human corpse, it was quite a delightful moments in my life discussing various facts regrading the anatomical aspects of Marma points with him.
It may be astonishing, for many, that as a house surgeon at A.A.G.H.I.M which was a Govt hospital, Dr.M.R.K, who was at the rank of Sr.M.O, entrusted the job of handling the case of a fresh admission of pakshaghata caused due to C.V.A along with my another colleague. We amicably did the marma chiktsa as advice by him, with utmost sincerity and were observing the minutest changes taking place in his body like the difference in his deep tendon reflexes,the muscular co-ordination, the speech, the changes in the otherwise weakened muscles with various clinical examinations, the gait etc., Believe my words the entire treatment was done with placebo medicines internally (just Amalaki churna & Triphala churna were given to the patient, with no direct medicines for CVA induced pakshaghata). The result we obtained was amazing.The inpatient was discharged after 10 days of the treatment with clear speech, normal tendon reflexes, almost normal gait and with good higher senses. He was later adviced suitable medications for the CVA related pakshaghata to prevent the recurrence (which usually gets recurred, since in this specific case it was rt.sided hemiplegia, involving the speech center and was spastic paralysis in nature with clasp-knife rigidity of both U/L & L/L). It was this first case of mine which created a niche in my mind and had an appreciable dent of impression, which is still remaining and is one of the intriguing & motivating factor for my confidence in the M/C,which has been time immemorial helped with by my intuition too in selecting the points for the specific disease in specific persons. .......
