CHAPTER IV - MODES OF THEIR PREPARATIONS

The five Modes of Their Preparations 

7.1 There are five modes of pharmaceutical preparation of these Decoctivess, viz., expressed juice, paste, decoctions, cold, infusion and hot infusion.

7.2 The fresh Juice extracted by mechanical pressure, hurb is called ‘Expressed juice’. The soft mass prepared by rubbing the drugs along with its juice is known as paste. The physicians give the name of ‘Decoction’ to that fluid which is obtained by bowling over a fire.

7.3 That is called cold infusion which is obtained by crushing a drug and keeping in overnight in bowled water; and that is called hot infusion which obtained from a crushed drug by powering hot water over it.......

Barely powders and alkali mixed with buttermilk, and administered warm, relievers pain in the stomach. Costusdill, sweet flag and barely-flour, mixed with oil and acid articles are prescribed in vata disorders.......

VARICOSE VEIN- WITH A DIFFERENCE.

Dear Doctors, i had chances to treat some cases of varicose vein fairly. but this case went differently.
A 34 yrs old stout gentleman, came with presenting complaints of leg pain from foot to the calf,bilateraly, left>Right. dilated veins on standing for 30 mins..

Success cases of Hypercholesterolemia

Due to our sedentary lifestyle and dietary habits, we are suffering from many lifestyle disorders. Among them Hypercholesterolemia is a common condition which is further responsible for many dreaded conditions.
We all know that in western medicines Statins are frequently used for these conditions and are usually prescribed for long period like 6-9 months or may be lifelong for cardiac patients. The most common adverse side effects are raised liver enzymes and muscle problems.
Ayurveda has very good medicines for this. Gugulu is a drug of choice for such conditions. But clinically I have seen that Gugulu preparation available in the market does not give fast results and same way we have to consume this or long period. Then what’s the difference?
In my clinical practice I made a combination which gave very fast results in high level of Cholesterol and even Triglycerides.

this is about a male dr preparing for USMLE, working in a major hospital in delhi. he is 28 years old well built and apparently healthy in all biometrics except little anxiety when he talks. 
he approached me almost 2 months back for this peculiar problem.
he suffered with embolism jeopardizing his lung capacity remarkably around one year back. it started with cough, chect infection and attacking his left lower lobe ant basal and lat basal part first time.
immediately he was on medication and it resolved reasonably. second time he was traveling high altitudes wen this happened and attacked his rt lower lung. though this is under control through warferrins he is terrified if it happens again. he is suffering from high coagulation factor, in recent MRI there is no new perfusion defects. ......

immediately he was on medication and it resolved reasonably. second time he was traveling high altitudes wen this happened and attacked his rt lower lung. though this is under control through warferrins he is terrified if it happens again. he is suffering from high coagulation factor, in recent MRI there is no new perfusion defects. 
his sleep was disturbed when he approached and anxiety levels were quite high. besides this he is suffering from disc prolapse because of persistent coughing.....

SARPGANDHA....WORLD'S FIRST ANTIHYPERTENSIVE

In the 1930s, the late Mr. M. Manal, founder of Himalaya, traveled to Burma, where he observed locals feeding some plant roots to restless elephants to calm them. When he returned to India, he had the plant,Rauwolfia serpentina, clinically tested and discovered it was a natural tranquilizer with anti-hypertensive properties. After research and testing, Serpina, the world's first natural anti-hypertensive medicine was launched in 1934.
Serpina was well received, and the success of this experiment laid the foundation for the organization's research progress
When high blood pressure was discovered in 1912, it was treated with benzyl benzoate, calcium chloride, sunflower seeds, garlic, liver extracts, etc, which were often poorly tolerated by patients. Sodium and potassium thiocyanate were in vogue in the 1940's and produced a significant fall in blood pressure in a few cases. However, the general lack of success of medical treatment led to attempts at relief by surgical procedures(1).
Reserpine was isolated in 1952 from the dried root of Rauwolfia serpentina (Indian Snakeroot)(2) and introduced in 1954, two years after chlorpromazine(3). It was synthesized in the laboratory couple of years later by Dr. Robert Woodward of Harvard University. Reserpine works by controlling nerve impulses along certain nerve pathways. As a result, it acts on the heart and blood vessels to lower blood pressure(4).
The beta blockers we use today are identical to resperine in chemical structure and physiological effects......

BILIARY CIRRHOSIS

Dear Doctors,

Kindly advice me the line of treatment for Biliary cirrhosis? The patient has no symptoms currently but has this problem since years. She is 33 years old, and have been treating with allopath since then. She is unhappy with her progress and wants to switch on to ayurveda. She is worried about her liver, as it is not been under control. Her alkaline phosphatase level is high. I have not yet seen the patient, i got a query from the patient through the email. I had a patient of hiccups, a 45 yrs old male with c/o hiccups for more than a month.He had undergone all possible investigations like b.urea,s.creatinine,s.bilirubin,E.c.g,x ray chest, electrocardiography etc. and various treatments from the best of the hospitals before visiting me .As there was no other medicine known to me which had not been used for the treatment of his condition, i treated him with mayur piccha basm 125 mg tid with honey .his frequency of hiccups started decreasing form day 1 of treatment.within 3 days ,he was free from the disease .I was a bit skeptical as it could have been a coincidence but my belief in the treatment further strengthened when the same set of incidents occurred with the same patient 6 months later!......
